President Bola Tinubu’s ministerial list is out. Here are the employment related ministers appointed by the president.

Simeon Lalong, Minister of Labor and Employment

Simon Lalong is the former governor of Plateau State. Simon started his political journey in 1998, when he contested under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the Plateau State House of Assembly. In 2002, he became speaker of the house, and he held the position till 2006, which made him the longest speaker. In 2015, he contested the gubernatorial elections in Plateau State under the All Progressive Congress (APC) and won. It is also worth mentioning that Simon Lalong is a lawyer by profession and was the deputy scribe of the Nigerian Bar Association.

Nkeiruka Onyejocha, Minister of state Labor and Employment

Nkeiruka started her political career with her 2002 appointment to the executive cabinet of Abia State as commissioner for Resource Management and Manpower Development by Governor Oriji Uzor Kalu.  In 2003, she was the Transition Executive Chairman of Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State. During her term in office, she executed erosion control projects, improved community security, and carried out the rehabilitation of feeder roads.

Onyejocha was first elected to Nigeria’s Federal House of Representatives in 2007 on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP. Her legislative objectives focus on the enactment of laws to enhance the living standards of women and children; the youth and the less privileged; and the improvement of education, health, and general infrastructure. She has served on various committees like Chairman’s Committee on Women in Parliament, Member House committee on Public Procurement, Member House Committee on House Services/Welfare etc.

Doris Anite, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment

Doris is a medical doctor turned banker. She holds a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charter, specializing in financial risk management and portfolio management.  In 2002, she made a career shift to the banking industry, rising to become the General Manager of Zenith Bank Plc and later becoming the youngest commissioner under Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma where she served as the commissioner of finance and coordinating economy.
